Sentosa Island is a popular quick retreat for Singaporeans and attracts more than 2 million visitors per year.. The island is just a 15 minute drive from the city center.

Sentosa is mostly a tourist attraction, so there are the restaurants, exhibits, and nightclubs that you would expect, but Sentosa’s best claim is its beautiful beaches.

Located on Sentosa Island are the three man-made beaches of Siloso, Palawan and Tanjong, which spans more than 2 km’s. The water may not be the clearest to look at, but there are plenty of girls in bikinis to divert your attention. There are also four tiny islands named St Johns, the Sisters Islands, Kusu Island, and Pulau Hantu that offer an “off the beaten path” alternative and can only be reached by ferry or chartered boat.
Some of the more popular tourist attractions on Sentosa Island are:

  • Carlsberg Sky Tower - This 131m observation tower allows you to view Sentosa, Singapore and, depending on the weather, Malaysia and Indonesia.
  • The world’s larges tropical ocean aquarium, Underwater World
  • The old WWII English fort, Fort Siloso
  • Sentosa Island Golf Club, which has twon 18 hole golf courses

But the most exciting entertainment attraction of them all, will be Resorts World at Sentosa casino and hotels, along with its Universal Sudios Singapore theme park. This integrated resort is scheduled to open in 2010, which will be shortly after the opening of Marina Bay Sands casino and hotel.
